Bangladesh anti-quota protests escalate

Clashes erupt between two groups of students in Bangladesh, leaving over a hundred injured and five killed.

Students protesting since earlier this month against the government's quotas for jobs battled with the counter group supporting the ruling party.

The government quotas for well-paid jobs reserved for the families of veterans is the main thing the protesters have been opposing.

After the High Court’s decision ordering the government to restore 30 percent job quotas for descendants of veterans, the protests began.

Bangladesh's top court subsequently suspended that order for a month, but the students have continued protesting.

They call for nationwide marches and rallies until their demands are met.
